This is the first year I have attempted to color Easter eggs with the boys. The blue dye was spilled by rough housing 3 year old.... the rest of the night was a success. ( looking back I wish I would have taken a picture of my blue smurf...I was a little too upset to think it was funny then)

For FHE night we read the story of the gingerbread man...made our own and decorated it (thanks to Trader Joe's) Then we loaded up the boys in their stroller, Marc and I went out for a run. Thanksgiving Weekend

Thanksgiving weekend was funfilled and BUSY! Thursday, we had Thanksgiving dinner at my parents house, and finished the night with yummy desserts with Marcus's family. Friday we loaded a Uhaul with our things in storage, and went to a extended family reunion on my Mom's side. Saturday included Golfing, lunch with a fabulous friend, a family work party in the Pecan's, and date night.

My little Ethan is off to preschool. Where has time gone E goes to preschool Mon - Thurs.

11:30 -1:50. My little man signs in his own name everyday and waits on the Red line for Mrs. Yamaguchi to walk him in to class. I couldn't be more thrilled with his teacher... she is great! I love hearing of his new adventures from school. Carson gets special Mommy time these days and goes to his own playgroup/preschool Fridays giving Ethan his special time. I was a little leary sending my babies off to prechool, but I think we have all finally adjusted.

Labor Day Weekend

My parents came to town this last weekend so we hit the town. We went to Santa Monica beach, The Air and Space Museum, and the Natural History Museum .

Mommy needed to get a Tb skin test too, so I could help at your school. Today when the nurse asked who wanted to go first, you jumped right up on the table and said " I do" without any hesitation.

This is turning out to be a pretty fun place. I must admit I was a little leery at first, but I think we are really going to LOVE it here! Here are some of our adventures. We moved to Mar vista just a few weeks ago making Marcus drive to Brentwood 10-15 min in traffic...wahoo!

I love that we can walk to this great park. There is a soccer field, baseball field, outdoor rollerskating hockey rink, pool, and playground.

We are finally settled into our new house. To say the least ,we have had an eventful last couple of weeks. Moving to a new location always is so much work especially with kiddos. Things we have been doing lately:
lots of swimming, found a preschool for E, found a few parks for the kiddos (they aren't exactly on every corner here, found our grocery store, Mall, & Target things are so compact here and with sketchy hit and miss neighborhoods finding these has taken a little effort.

Positives:
*Cute neighborhood, tree lined streets
* open garden style complex with tropical plants( I look outside and feel like I'm on a vacation)
*right next to Whole foods and post office
*walking distance to the best elementary school in the area
*10 min. away from Marcus office in Brentwood
*2 miles from the temple ( newly remodeled visitors center with fun activities for the kiddos)
*pool
* ocean breeze~ makes laying out by the pool and afternoon walks perfect
*close to the beach
* perfect weather ...never too hot or too cold

Negatives:
*few kids... it's so expensive to live here..and very compact..the sight of an suv/suburban trying to find parking here would be quite a sight
*homeless bums ~who wouldn't want to live by the beach..lol
* sketchy neighbor
(We called the cops on him last weekend after threatening to " beat the kids". Honestly it's been a a little scary. We do have some great neighbors though that have been looking out for us while Marcus is at work, we have a property manager that checks on us daily, and extra security in and around the complex. Sadly the eviction process doesn't happen overnight, luckily his arrest that evening seems to be speeding up the process.)

I have to give props to my hubby though. I have not been very cheery this last week, with the stress of moving, trying to feel settled, our neighbor situation, and the overall feeling of LA...not exactly the most kid friendly place, I have been a grump. I am sure his week hasn't been perfect and could have had a crappy day at work....but I wouldn't know...it's all been about me this week and what I want. I love this guy!

We decided to have Ethan's 1st friend party this year. After attending several friends Birthdays, E asked why nobody came to his party last year:( He loved it! We played pin the arms on Mr. Potato head, Bullseye, flying saucer game, Buzz lightyears moon walk ( jumping on bubble wrap). We ended the day with a rocketship pinata and Toy story alien cupcakes.

A lot has been going on lately...so I'm playing catch up on blog posts. This one is kinda important....so I guess I'll post it... ha ha!

Marcus is done with his internship in Newport beach, and he has taken a job in Santa Monica. We are excited for a new adventure! It's a little bitter sweet, we have loved living in Cali this last year, but I'm a little sad to not be moving back to our long lost family and friends in AZ....so you need to come visit.

I sat the boys down in front of the tv with their snack of choice...raisins. 10 Min later I hear Carson crying.... immediately I knew what was wrong when I saw this picture....great. I couldn't see it at first but after a few blows...there it was. I grabbed the tweezers and pulled that bad boy out. It was nice and plump ..ya I'll save that picture..ha ha. Carson was so scared he gave me a big hug and thankyou after I pulled it out. I'm pretty sure that won't be happening again. Man I love that kid...but he sure is a Booger!

I am one proud wife! Marcus graduated from USC, I have been informed I must now refer to him as Master...HA HA!

Now that we have started a new chapter in our lives we are filled with mixed emotions. Marcus is currently in an internship in Newport beach. Most likely we will be moving to Orange County by the end of the month. A new chapter, a new adventure..... here's to us.

Crazy Comp Weekend

While Marcus was working on his week long comp for his final project the kiddos and I left to go play in Phoenix. Marcus had peace and quiet to work, and we were excited to see family. It was a win/win for both. Besides the Strep that 8 of us caught it was a fun week.
Ethan and Daylan enjoying the massage chair..... we had a lot of these lazy days with us all not feeling well. After Marcus turned in his project he met up with us in Phoenix. We left the kiddos with my Mom and Sister and left for a vacation to Mexico with some of Marc's fellow MRED

classmates. We had a blast the boys spent the days surfing. I loved running in the mornings along the coast and laying out by the pool that overlooked the ocean. Good friend...beautiful scenery...lobster dinner....by far one of the best vacations ever!

* Ethan received his first love note while visiting Grandma's house. A 6 yr old from my parents ward came over to my Mom's and played with him for 10 min, and left Ethan this cute note.

Marcus and I went to Griffith Observatory this weekend. We walked through the museum learned about some astrology and then headed over to check out the giant telescope. Tonight we saw Mars and learned some interesting facts about the planet. It really is an amazing view from the Observatory, it is located on the southern slope on Mount Hollywood looking down over the city was awesome. Thanks Valentine for the fun date!

Sunday night the boys and I attempted to make a Gingerbread house. They loved it! Who doesn't like making editable houses. Well this morning the ants decided to find their way into the house...word got out that this house has lots of candy. As I was cleaning up the disaster area I said something like this" I can NOT stand the ants in THIS HOUSE!" (This is not the first time we have had a problem since we moved in) My Sweet Ethan ran over to his Daddy who was studying for his Finals and said, "I know Dad we can build Mom a new house" He proceeded to get out all of his tools. He remembered Marcus building our home in Idaho. Marcus told him he would help him when he got home, and that maybe he could make a drawing of the House he wanted to build while Marcus was gone at school. That did not stop my determined little boy. Ethan scrounged around the house for some supplies and got to work.....About an Hour later Ethan decided it was too small for his Mom as I tried to fit inside. Oh how I love my SWEET boys.

Thanksgiving was a BLAST this years! We headed down to Phoenix we had a yummy Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday at my sister in law Whitney's House. Fri and Sat we attended the Curtis Family Reunion. It was wonderful to see the extended Family. We shot of rockets, played baseball, went swimming, played beach volleyball, and even had a talent show. Can't wait for the next one. This rocket came down and pierced the ground like an arrow... Scary. We moved all the kids back just a little further.

Can I just say how much I LOVE IT HERE. There are so many fun things to do in Cali. A few weeks ago some friends and I went to the Huntington Gardens. There are gardens represented from around the world.

This weekend my little brother Tommy proposed to his girlfriend Jozie Lee. They are a perfect match for each other! She was there around the clock with Tommy as he went through his surgery last month. She is such a sweet girl and we are so lucky to have her join the Family.

*on a side note : the results came back from the Mayo Clinic from Tommy's surgery and the tumor was benign. Phew!

My brother Tommy is having a difficult bone tumor removed in his elbow this Monday, June 29th. All family and friend are invited to fast with us tomorrow.
"We do not know of its (tumor) malignancy at this point but he has undergone a full body scan and there is no sign of metastasis or spreading anywhere else. Due to the location of the tumor (in the distal humeral fossa) a biopsy is not possible. He will have to have his olecranon process removed (elbow bone) and the tumor cut out and replace the hole or osseous void with a allograft matrix known as a cadaveric bone graft. His elbow bone will then be re-attached with fixation screws and metal plate. He will be immobilized for 4-6 weeks and then hopefully start the rehabilitation process. It is an unusual surgery and complicated at best but we all are at peace with it.
We just don’t know what this will all bring but we are all optimistic as well as his oncologist (cancer specialist) who is also an orthopedic surgeon. We feel he is in excellent hands and at a fine hospital with a great orthopedic oncology unit (Scottsdale Healthcare Shea)."

Nina (Marcus Mom) is continuing to improve everyday, although we have 1 more critical week she has done extremely well. This week she sat up, stood up, and has tried to eat food again. She is in good spirits and has been able to see all of her 7 children this week.

Last Monday night my Mother in law was taken by ambulance to the hospital, after becoming violently ill and becoming unconscious. She was sent home the next day, with no diagnosis . Friday came and she was still complaining of a headache. Being the strong fighter that she is, she thought maybe she just needed to go for a run. ( she runs at least 5 miles a day.) Marcus's older Sister Kristen was definitely in tune with the spirit that day as she insisted that they go back to the Hospital. After arriving a cat scan was done and the Dr found blood on the brain. Noting that he had never seen someone in that condition still conscious(she's a fighter)She was rushed to St Joesph Barros neurological center in Phoenix. She soon became unresponsive. They found 2 brain aneurysm that had ruptured. The surgery was successful but we have been told the next 2 weeks are very critical, there will be ups and downs. We have had some scary moments through this all but she continues to fight. The recovery will be long but she's a fighter."I think she only knows how to be a fighter, she's always had to be" Marcus said to us all after the invasive surgery. We are all very hopeful and she has passed every test the nurses and doctors have asked her to do. They continue to wake her up every hour to try to have her respond. The doctors have told us that it is very important that we continue to be there for her to keep her brain activity up, and we have started some music therapy. All of her children have been able to be there at some point. We are now back in California but will continue to go down on the weekends. This will be a long road and I ask for your prayers as she continues to fight.

Life in South Pas

There have been a lot of changes in our lives lately. Our computer is finally up and running after the nasty facebook virus took it out of commission. I've yet to upload photos to the computer, so when I do be prepared for catch up. Life is wonderful, I am loving South Pasadena. We are close to the beach and make sure to take advantage of it. We also bought annual passes to Disneyland, Ethan absolutely loves going to Mickeys house. Marcus is enjoying his program at USC and has stayed busy, but we've still had some time to play. The laundry facility in the complex does cost $2.50 for a load of laundry....Ugg. But all in all I think we made a good choice moving here.

Life has been pretty busy lately. We have finally finished our basement and have been trying to decide on graduate school programs. The choices were down to an MBA from BYU or a Masters in Real Estate and Development from USC. We have finally made a decision ............... CALIFORNIA HERE WE COME! School starts June 1st......so we are drastically dropping our home price and boxing up our home! Wish us luck!

I am finally getting back to blogging. It has been too long...Facebook seems to be addicting!

Carson has been walking for a couple weeks and now and is getting into mischief; unrolling the toilet paper, playing in the garbage, you know all those things that become so interesting to them in this new world. Ethan has learned how to make his own playground inside during these cold winter days. He uses the couch cushions and makes a slide, stacks is toy boxes to climb on, and uses the couch as a trampoline to do his tricks and sumersaults. We get creatitive over here!

We have been pretty busy lately as we are trying to finish our basement. We are getting close.....wahoo!

This overpass is amazing. This will bypasses driving over the Hoover Dam. This picture doesn't show how high this bridge is ...so cool! Visiting the Shark Reek at Mandalay, a MUST the next time you go to Vegas. It is a lot like the exhibit at Sea World, but there is the coolest room where 3 walls are glass and there are huge sharks swimming around you!

The hotel that we stayed in had an aquarium the size of a wall in the foyer!

We also walked through the Bass Pro Shop that was attached to the hotel. Ethan was in fish heaven the entire trip!

9 month check up

This week Carson had his 9 Month check up. He is a tiny little guy.

I decided to do flu shots this year for the kids, it seems like all the kids we know have been sick this last month. We found out that there was a nasty gastrointestinal virus going around, and that is what my poor Ethan caught weeks ago.

Okay so Thursday night got SO much worse! 4 hours of diaper changes never more than 10 min apart. We literally stood in the tub would wash off and he would go again. I thought for sure we would be going to the hospital. It was insane! Ethan would scream the entire time it was AWFUL!
Thank goodness for answered prayers that kept us out of the hospital
I think we are finally done. ...cross your fingers!

This last week we all took turns getting sick at the Goodwin home. Last Tuesday night I was up with Ethan quite a bit as he was throwing up. Wed morning he looked really pale, but was acting fine. When Ethan woke up and saw me feeding Carson breakfast he realized he was starving( I am sure from throwing up all night) He grabbed himself a cereal bowel and as he was asking for Coco Roos, he threw up in his cereal bowl. I helped him finish throwing up, and cleaned it up. When I went back to finish feeding Carson he had already finished his bowl by himself. funny boy

We spend last week playing forts all day, so Mom could rest!

BEWARE OF THE SUCKER

I am sure you all are a lot wiser than I but feel obligated to share our story since it is almost Halloween. This week I purchased our Halloween candy including dum dum suckers. I used these to keep Ethan quiet while getting groceries, running errands, ect. Tuesday afternoon just minutes after giving him a sucker I heard him gaging ....the sucker no where to be found. He had locked his jaw up in fear as he was chocking. I managed to slide a finger in his mouth allowing me to open up his jaw. I swooped my finger in his mouth and felt 1 inch of the sucker stick coming out of his throat . I pulled out the stick , with the sucker still attached. I had given him the sucker to keep him occupied as I was loading up Carson in the car. I think reality set in after this ordeal was done, realizing he could have been in the car and I might not have heard him.
When I called my Mom to tell her what had happened to Ethan, she told me of a story of a child, in our extended family who actually had died from chocking on a sucker.
This was a huge scare for us and I will be writing the company to insist that they put a larger warning label on their bag. I have chosen not to give the kids anymore suckers of any kind. You might think I'm crazy but I consider what happened to us a huge blessing .

For a while there I thought this horror would not end...but I am happy to say that we are finally done putting our house back together. It rented out days after installing the new carpet ..... Hooray!

That is exactly how I feel right now. To give you just a quick briefing. Our renters have been out of our Queen Creek home for about a month now. This last year they really struggled to make payments, even getting as much as 3 months behind on rent. We were always willing to work with them on payments, waiving late penalties and also paying their waste management bill for 5 months. I understand hard times and tried my best to be understanding and work with them through it.
I have had 100 pictures of my home taken.....that make me cry. It has taken me a long time to post because I have been so angry. To give you an idea of what I am dealing with the shower alone took 3 hours to clean. The carpet has to get replaced, every wall is covered in marker and crayon from the ground to 4 feet up, I have broken windows, missing doors. Those are just the big ones. I think that by saying there was poo left on the floor from the kids tells you enough.
The kicker is that they were in our ward, and no I am not naive enough just to think because they are members that I would rent to them. But they were one of the few families that would help us clean the church on Saturdays which is so ironic. Honestly I know that something traumatic must have happen during this last year, but the damages that have incurred must be paid for. I understand late payments but there is not an excuse for destroying my home. There is easily $8,000 worth of damage. We have come to a settlement amount they we will settle for out of court which is alot of money, but only 1/3 the cost of damages. Seriously dealing with this states away is driving me crazy. Hopefully they will chose to pay or we will see them in court.
